To start with my article… I’d like to quote Philosopher Nietzsche’s line
“The tree stands lonely here on the hills… It has Grownup above the man and the beast and if it wanted to speak there’s no one tall enough to listen” Friedrich Nietzsche—Thus Spake Zarathustra
I think Christopher Nolan is the only director in this world who can suit the above lines…
His ideas, sensibilities, absorption quotient, plane level of thinking, knowledge towards various aspects is far far far higher than any filmmaker or audience… so no one can understand his thoughts and vision just like it is impossible for grass on the ground to communicate with the tree standing on the hills… As the size, strength, exposure equations between grass crop and Tall tree are extremely different…
The thoughts of NOLAN are strong and firmly rooted. Ayn Physical Quantum cannot counter it. But the things we cannot see, hear, or touch with our physical senses certainly do have the ability to move them. We human beings are affected most by invisible things, our mental and spiritual tribulations. The outsider knows this only too well. Until we learn self-discipline and self-control, we will always be buffeted about by invisible things because of our passivity. This young man has endured torment during his quest for transformation. He grows weary of it, as we all do at times.
“INCEPTION is a kind of film that will make any Director in the world feel like an idiot compared to Nolan. The Greatest thing about it is that Nolan takes it for granted that the audience is intelligent where most of us idiotic Directors assume that the audience is too foolish to understand anything that complex,” says Filmmaker RGV
Nolan’s film deals with a world where technology allows the invasion of the human mind through dreams.
How does Christopher Nolan write?
NOLAN: What I try to do is write from the inside out. I really try to jump into the world of the film and the characters, try to imagine myself in that world rather than imagining it as a film I’m watching onscreen. Sometimes, that means I’m discovering things the way the audience will, with character and story.
The above explanation of NOLAN says it all about The Plane of thinking he has…
Nolan is a Gestalt thinker and entertainer, and he thinks that it’s technical details like these, even the ones we register only unconsciously, that make the theatrical experience a vivid and continuous dream.
This morning I again watched INCEPTION. I Loved Christopher Nolan for in comparison to his ultra-futuristic vision of his, he made me feel like a pre-historic being of cinema in every which way. INCEPTION is the most mind-blowing cinematic experience anybody can ever hope to have in their entire lifetime. Nearly some years ago I remember being awestruck with Star Wars and now nearly years later INCEPTION to me looked 30 years ahead of its time both in its creative output and also in terms of Christopher Nolan’s sheer imaginative power.
DREAMS on TOP of DREAMS INSIDE DREAMS…
If you are smart enough to understand the above line… Then I’m super sure that you can understand Christopher Nolan films at least 1%
It’s said that Christopher Nolan spent ten years writing his screenplay for “Inception.” That must have involved prodigious concentration, like playing blindfolded chess while walking a tight wire.
The story can either be told in a few sentences or not told at all. Here is a movie immune to spoilers: If you knew how it ended, that would tell you nothing unless you knew how it got there. And telling you how it got there would produce bafflement. The movie is all about the process, about fighting our way through enveloping sheets of reality and dream, reality within dreams, dreams without reality. It’s a breathtaking juggling act, Like the hero of that film, the viewer of “Inception” is adrift in time and experience. We can never even be quite sure what the relationship between dream time and real-time is. The hero explains that you can never remember the beginning of a dream and that dreams that seem to cover hours may only last a short time. Yes, but you don’t know that when you’re dreaming. And what if you’re inside another man’s dream? How does your dream time sync with his? What do you really know?
I honestly feel that it is a crime to give away such a glorious experience as that of watching INCEPTION for a mere 100 or 200 Rupee tickets to us common people.
Christopher Nolan in INCEPTION created a benchmark so high that it will take years for us lesser folk even to comprehend it let alone attempt to execute it.
It’s like if you aspire to be a runner and somehow hope to run at a speed of 20km per hour which may be the world record and then when on the track you see a guy running at 200kmph you would rather give up and come back and make family dramas and TV serials and leave the running to Christopher Nolan.
I LOVE him for making all so-called filmmakers in the world feel like ants.
I love him for his passion and patience he created new benchmarks in every technical aspect of the medium of films.
And lastly, “I thank him for existing”.
P.S1: Reposting this which I’ve written 3 years ago.
P.S2: I truly believe “INCEPTION” will divide cinema as we knew it so far into a pre “INCEPTION” and a post “INCEPTION” era.
P.S3: The word Audience and Filmmakers that I used in my article’s particular context speaks about the majority but not everyone… So I hope I did not generalize anyone concerned
